Passion for children

Hello everyone.

In my native language Kinyarwanda, there is a saying that "uburere buruta ubuvuke". This means that there is more to parenting than to giving birth. And i think that this is true in the sens that, raising a child requires a big responsibility and commitment.
It is a plus when it is done with passion. I would want to share my mum's picture with you. It was in 1974, she was 34 years old, with the second grade class.

She is a role model to me. She founded her own school when she was turning 50 years old in 1990.
She is among the first girls to go to school in my country Rwanda.
Now her school has 1,600 students in total, with kindergarten, and primary.
I hope that you understand my admiration for her.

  1. Marlene,

I enjoyed your post, what a wonderful and inspirational way to grow up. I agree with the saying, "uburere buruta ubuvuke". Parenting is difficult, you must be 110% committed to the role and the life you provide for your child. I applaud your mother for what she gave to education.
